About the Blogger
Cocoro Psyché is an incest awareness activist, from New York, currently based in Tokyo.
In 1983, Psyché was born to Japanese parents who immigrated to the United States in the '70s. Her father molested her when she was about four years old and this traumatic event was just a prologue to a series of indecency which continued to her thirties.
While treating her chronic depression or Complex-PTSD and Premenstrual Exacerbation (PME), she realized the need to stop denying her father's crime. She confronted her parents but their words and actions only validated their hypocrisy.
Meanwhile, admitting her victimhood forced Psyché to realize that she also became a perpetrator by sexually harassing and bullying her younger brothers until their teenage years. It was a way to cope with her parent's misogyny.
She is continuing to undergo various kinds of holistic treatment to help control her long-suppressed anger, which often leads to verbal abuse against her partner.
Psyché's mission is to stop this vicious cycle of victims becoming perpetrators and so on. By spreading the awareness of incest and its consequences, she believes that we can create a safer home and society for children, who are our future.
Utilizing her career as a translator, she translates English documentaries on incest into Japanese as well as writes about the incest problem in Japan to shed light on what needs to be done on a global scale.
